Makeup Wish List 2009

So Christmas is around the corner and I've compiled a list of things that I really like (and am probably going to accumulate over time). I think this list has the top products that are, in my opinion, totally worth the money and wait. I figured some of you might want a sneak peak at what I find awesome so maybe you can ask for one or two of them for Christmas. I spend a lot of time researching makeup so you can be guaranteed that my list doesn't have any items I've been asked to promote or have included just for kicks; I chose these items simply because they are the best of the best. (Please click the "Read More" link to view the remainder of this post!)

Chantecaille Future Skin Gel Foundation-This foundation is made for oily skin. It is perfect for those who have acne and want to use makeup but don't want to break out. It actually includes ingredients to relieve irritation and redness and it has exclusive mixture that will help reduce sebum (oil) production. Makeup artists rave that this makeup is like a second skin and therefore never looks like makeup itself, but rather more like real skin. Chantecaille is an expensive, luxurious brand but this makeup has ingredients that are GOOD for your skin so it's kind of like skin care and makeup in one. It retails for $68.00 and can be found at Saks Fifth Avenue.

YSL Creme de Blush-This blush has a creamy texture in the jar but goes on like a powder blush. It's like having the best of both worlds in this blush. It can be blended out with a brush but at the same time because it has a somewhat creamy texture, it sinks in to your skin to look like a glow lit from within rather than blush sitting on the surface. Again, this product is pricey but I'm sure it'll last a long time so it's worth it. It costs $38 and can be bought at Sephora.

Bare Escentuals Hydrating Mineral Veil-This is my holy grail (it means I use it everyday) product. It gives that BEAUTIFUL hollywood quality to the skin by making the skin look angelic and glowy but not shiny or greasy. It is also a mineral product and therefore will not break you out or cause acne. I use this product in lieu of foundation since I don't like to wear foundation unless it's for a special event. This product is actually decently priced at $19.00. You can buy it at ULTA or Sephora.

Shiseido Matifying Moisturizer Oil-Free-This moisturizer is perfect for those who don't want sunscreen included in their moisturizer. It is oil-free and is mattifying, which makes it perfect for people with acne prone and oily skin. I have actually used this product before and find it useful for the summer when a lighter moisturizer is needed. It won't help you if you have super-dry, flaky skin during the winter but it is a definite must for the summer months when it's hot and your skin is naturally oily. You can purchase this at Macys, Sephora, or anywhere that carries the Shiseido line. It costs $32.00.

MAC Lipstick-Lipsticks are actually something I don't deal with much but from the products I've used I have to say that MAC has superior color selection and pigmentation as far as lipsticks go. I own several MAC lipsticks and they really are quite nice. Some colors that MAC produces for their special collections are incredible so make sure you get them before they run out. They aren't that expensive at $14.00 per lipstick. You can purchase them at any MAC store. You won't be sorry when you buy MAC lipsticks.

Shu Uemura Deepsea Moisture Replenishing Lotion-This product is basically a toner but it's called a lotion. It is super nice if you like using toners because it is a moisturizing one. Most toners leave your skin dry and parchy but this one is meant to keep your skin hydrated. It runs for $30.00 and can be purchased online or department stores that carry this brand. I think Neiman Marcus carries it.

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque-This is Chanel's latest line of lipglosses that go on as pigmented as lipsticks. These lipglosses are absolutely amazing because they swipe as opaque as any lip product and you don't need to layer the gloss to build up the color. Say what?! That's amazing for a lipgloss! They retail for $32.00 each at Nordstrom, and yeah that's pricey but trust me when I say they look amazing on the lips!

Ben Nye Palette-Alright so everyone should know that MAC is the king of eyeshadows but I must hand it to Ben Nye for making the brightest, most color shocking, super intense, ultra pigmented, etc. palette. These palettes can be used on the eye and because it's actually theater stage makeup, you're sure to have the brightest, most durable eyeshadow colors. Hands down, Ben Nye wins when it comes to neon eyeshadow colors that last for ages on the eye and that can be seen from a million miles away. The whole set, which contains 12 colors, retails for $60.00 and can be bought through various online vendors. Do a Google search.

Illamasqua Powder Blush-"WOW," is all I can say about these blushes. They definitely aren't for the faint hearted but if you're looking to be foxy like Megan and are bold enough to carry out some very shocking or intense colors, this is THE blush line. I am actually in the process of purchasing some. They can only be bought at select Sephora stores or through www.sephora.com. They retail for $23.00 per blush. I'm so excited for this and can guarantee you will be too if you bought some.
